Singing has benefits for mental health and emotional well-being and, from the beginning to the end of the music course, it broadens the students' sound universe. The literature review highlights the importance of singing in general and, specifically, singing in music education classes.Acquiring a musical education means, among many other attributes, learning how to listen and how to sing. To do this, we use the voice, which is the instrument that is born with every human being.There is a consensus among teachers who teach Music Education in Portugal that singing, as well as being part of the curriculum, is relevant to the formation of the individual as a whole. Music education should provide students with a broad musical knowledge base, leading to an intelligent listening comprehension of music and the acquisition of musical literacy.
