She came from the past, and to the past, she must return. Made vampire and thrust into the modern world, Belle is learning to appreciate all that 1000 years of progress offers. But life is not all French fries and Buffy re-runs - ancient enemies threaten this new world, and it is Belle's duty to destroy them; it has been foretold. But what if her past was all a lie? What if she never had the power she once thought she commanded? There is only one way to find out. From warming the bed of a Persian king, to raiding Roman villas with pirates - Belle will traverse the ancient lands in search of a weapon to defeat her enemies - and in search of the truth. Will a handsome barbarian help her find the relics she seeks? Or will he claim a part of her she had also thought lost, her heart? And what of the knight who has waited for her for more than 1000 years?
