This is the 6th novel in the Nic Thorn and Associates series of investigations into scams, frauds and genuine misunderstandings, set in modern-day Australia. The team have a lot to do now as their reputation of resolving stuff, recovering stuff and rescuing stuff is finally giving them the notoriety they deserve. Still, they are supposed to be operating in secret, just like all mild-mannered superheroes do, hiding in plain sight. This time they are brought in for a crash course into car crashing. Car insurance companies are being driven up the wall by bogus claims and 'accidents' so it's about time someone gives the scammers a crash course on how to stop. Then one of the national restaurant chains puts together a competition so easy that anyone can win, but what happens when the prizes are won even before the competition is finished? Someone is already claiming the prizes but how can it be a competition if there are only winners? Rose's Father likes to think he knows about art so the team gets involved in an art scam. Can he afford to have his reputation tarnished? Art is not always art as it depends on your point of view, but fraud is always fraud and scammers will always scam. Can Nic Thorn and Associates continue to operate within the shadows, or is it time they can be seen in the light? Many hands do make light work but someone needs to know where the switch is.
