As Jack Connor investigates the seeming random murder of a customer at his beach bar, people keep turning up dead, and he comes within an inch of his own demise. His unwavering search for justice serves as a metaphor for his own life and the long-term results that he hopes will return meaning to his soul. His pursuit of the truth not only causes him to reflect on why he continues to place himself in the path of danger, but also takes him on a reflective journey as he comes to grips with accumulated debts of conscience and spirit.
