Skie Bender is an Expressionistic Artist, Boxer, and Wildlife Educator. Skie has exhibited her art at galleries throughout the west and Pacific Northwest. In the late nineties Skie was the singer-songwriter and bass player for the Los Angeles based art-rock band, The Fire Ants. The Fire Ants recorded seven CD's, and toured the U.S. and Japan. Skie works at Wolf Haven International, a nonprofit sanctuary for captive born wolves located in Washington State. Skie has published 10 Creative Nonfiction novellas. In 2008 she was the Wild Card Winner at The New York Book Festival for her novella, The Knife Beneath My Shirt. When not creating art, boxing or educating, Skie enjoys hiking and being with her dogs.
