Biography Cheryl A. Johnson Cheryl was born in Marksville, Louisiana. Her family moved to Port Arthur, Texas when she was very young. She attended Lincoln H.S. and was crowned Miss Lincoln in 1963. During her senior year she won the state championship in tennis for her school. Cheryl attended Prairie View A & M University in Texas where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in 1967. At Prairie View she met and later married her college sweetheart Ed. They have 3 children and 3 grandchildren. Cheryl later earned a Masters Degree in School Counseling from Governors State University in Illinois. She taught middle school for 34 years before retiring in 2001. Her interest in children's books and art was always evident. Her grandchildren have been a major source of inspiration for her first, in a series of children's books she plans to publish. Sleep Little Baby represents blended families, exciting colors and real dreams of young children. Cheryl and Ed reside in Illinois.
