Extraction of teeth might not be accepted by each and every patient when indicated. Visibility of extraction spaces throughout the treatment could be discouraging to the patients and parents. Other methods for space gaining like expansion, distalization, proclination of teeth etc might not be ideal for most of the cases. They require special arch forms and are indicated only in particular conditions. The one universal method which can be tried almost in every case for gaining space is PROXIMAL STRIPPING or INTER PROXIMAL REDUCTION. But the amount of enamel that can be stripped and the indications and contraindications are always little controversial and vague. This textbook tries to address all the queries and information required while performing inter proximal reduction. The recent advances and different techniques to perform this procedure, the pros and cons are well studied and put forth.
