NASREEN ISLAM was born and educated in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and moved to Canada in 1974. She studied English Literature at Dhaka University and left for Canada in her final year of Masters.She lives in Ottawa, Canada which has been her home for 45 years. She retired in 2012, after working for the federal government, Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food for 33 years. She is married and has two adult children.She started writing her memoirs in 1990 and as a cancer survivor was encouraged by family and friends to complete it by 2022.
