Born in Indian Head, Saskatchewan, John Schreiner has lived and worked in Regina, Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. A well-known wine and business journalist, Schreiner has won several writing awards including the 1996 Jack Webster award for Excellence in Business Reporting and the 2017 "national winner for Canada" Gourmand World Cookbook Award in the category of New World Wine Book. Goodgrog: A Life in Wine and Journalism is his twenty-second book. "Retired", but still actively writing, Schreiner lives in North Vancouver with his wife, Marlene. They have three adult children and eight grandchildren. When not writing, reading, or enjoying wine making or tasting, Schreiner enjoys photography and cycling.
