Julia Lindsey's new book answers teachers' persistent questions: "How should I rethink small groups, given what reading science is telling us?" "How should I group kids?" and "How do I plan and implement instruction to teach them most effectively?" Lindsey offers teachers a lens through which to see specific "sticking points" (needs) that students typically have and respond with routines and methods based on empirical research. This targeted, purpose-driven approach--sometimes requiring as little as five minutes of instructional time--moves the needle for all readers, regardless of where they fall on the developmental spectrum. Small Groups, Big Results gives grades K-5 teachers a new gameplan--a framework for planning small-group reading, PLUS specific, actionable assessments and teaching moves to build better readers.
