Gaddi goats are reared by a tribe called Gaddi in the temperate zone of Himachal Pradesh. The economy of Gaddi people is largely dependent on Gaddi goats and sheep. The small intestine plays an important role in the digestion and absorption of various nutrients. The absorptive and digestive functions of the small intestine are facilitated by structural specializations, which also increase the surface area exposed to the intestinal contents. These include the plicae circulares, villi, microvilli, mucosal glands, submucosal glands and the goblet cells present throughout the small intestine. This study helped to recognize the characteristic features of small intestine of this animal owing to its migratory nature and thus help to augment the productive potential of this animal.
