It specifically tackles the socio-economic characteristics and the determining factors that influence cooperation among the communities that live in the fishing areas of the Barotse floodplain in the Western Province of Zambia. The study investigates the individual and community level factors that direct people's behavior. Briefly, it touches at the traditional governance systems in Barotseland vis-a-vis the central system (modern democracy). The study used econometric methods to determine its findings, and data processing was done using STATA. Lastly, the study concluded by giving suggestions and policy recommendation.
