We have used Giant Gecko kit based on ARM Cortex M3 microcontroller to design a controlling mechanism for different home appliances. This helps in saving power consumed by the different connected devices. The on-board LED's and GPI/O ports, capacitive touch slider and push buttons of the Giant Gecko kit are used. DigitalIn, DigitalOut and AnalogOut classes of mbed are extensively used. We have interfaced fan, AC, geyser and tube light, to the MCU with wired connections between the devices and I/O pins present at the breakout pad of kit. We have interfaced fan, AC, geyser and tube light, to the MCU with wired connections between the devices and I/O pins present at the breakout pad of kit. With the help of Energy-Profiler of Simplicity Studio provided by Silicon Labs, we have demonstrated the average power and current consumption of the code running on the simulator.
