Michael J. Serpe received his B.S. from the University of Central Florida in 2000, his Ph.D. from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2004 and completed his postdoctoral studies at Duke University in 2009. In the same year he joined the Department of Chemistry at the University of Alberta as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2014 and Full Professor in 2018. His group's research program is focused on developing new technologies to solve problems associated with health and the environment using fundamental and applied polymer, colloid (nano and microparticles), surface, and materials chemistry. Liang Hu is an Associate Professor at Soochow University, China. He received his B.S. (2006), M.S. (2009) and Ph.D. (2013) degree in Polymer Science and Technology from Wuhan University of Technology, China. He was a visiting student under the supervision of Michael J. Serpe at University of Alberta, Canada (2011-2013). After that, he worked with Prof. Lei Jiang and Prof. Jian Jin as a postdoctoral fellow at Suzhou Institute of Nano-Tech and Nano-Bionics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China (2013-2015). In 2015, he joined Soochow University. His current work involves the application of polymer-based hydrogels for dosimeters and cancer therapy. Yongfeng Gao graduated in Chemistry from Tsinghua University (China). He was awarded his PhD from the University of Alberta in 2017 with a thesis on stimuli-responsive polymers under the supervision of Prof. Michael J. Serpe. In 2019, he joined Prof. Hongbo Zeng?s research group in Chemical and Materials Engineering department at University of Alberta as a postdoctoral fellow. His current research focuses on polymeric materials synthesis and their application in breast cancer treatment.
