Growing up in the hills of Northeastern Oklahoma, inspired by his paternal Grandfather, Dr. Dunbar dreamed of working with wild animals in wild places. After achieving college degrees in Wildlife Ecology at Oklahoma State University and a degree in Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University, the author worked as a conservation officer, wildlife biologist and as a practicing veterinarian in Idaho. Later, while working with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and Wildlife Services with the Department of Agriculture, he achieved his dream working as a research wildlife veterinarian in many wild places around the world. Nearing retirement, he wanted to write about what he loved, so began his writing career; writing three novels, his memoir as a Wildlife Veterinarian, and finally this collection of short stories, some inspired by his life's experiences. Dr. Dunbar now resides with his beautiful wife Sherry along the Salmon River in the rugged mountains of east central Idaho.
