The department is composed of all volunteers who donate their time to provide an essential service to the community, as well as devote hours to training to remain up to date with the latest firefighting concepts and tactics along with maintaining a high level of medical care to its residents through constant training. Basic Emegency Medical Services (EMS) training and certification is provided on several levels, from Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) level, Certified First Responder (CFR) and Basic First Aid. Initial EMT and CFR training and certification is provided through the Erie County Department of Health which administers the NYS Department of Health curriculum for EMT and CFR training and is done without direct cost to the taxpayers of the Snyder Fire District.
