Faced with advances in agriculture, environmental impacts that jeopardise human health and the crisis of the modern pattern of agriculture, discussions are emerging about new sustainable production trends, known as sustainable agriculture. They are characterised by being ecologically correct, economically viable, socially just and adaptable. These are challenging proposals for producing food in harmony with man and the environment. In the semi-arid region, the adoption of agro-ecological practices is important given the high levels of socio-environmental degradation, caused mainly by agricultural practices that are not in line with the region's characteristics. This makes it important to disseminate coexistence policies that guarantee better adaptation to semi-arid regions. The adoption of agroecological agricultural practices in semi-arid regions provides adequate management of the Caatinga's resources, promoting socio-environmental sustainability, an increase in agricultural productivity and the valorisation of small farmers.
