The examined barriers were (a) gender, (b) parental educational attainment, (c) opportunities to practise Mandarin at home, (d) social welfare entitlement, (e) adequacy of educational facilities and (f) transport accessibility.

Jason Hung held research attachments at Stanford University (2019), King¿s College, London (2018-19), University of California, Berkeley (2018) and the University of Warwick (2017, 2016). His research interests encompass addressing social inequalities and how these affect disadvantaged populations in Chinese, Hong Kong and British contexts.
