The challenge is to break with the paradigm that only formal authorities at the local or municipal level can and should intervene in the solution of neighborhood and community conflicts. It invites to action and is the central purpose of this work. Through the experience acquired, a reflection and analysis is shown on the links of cooperation or conflict in the local and community spheres, having as axis the community mediation from the point of view of Social Work and the third sector. This article is the result of the systematization of a professional practice of a master's degree in conflict resolution and mediation in a City Hall of Mexico City. It shows how social conflicts that arise in the communities are managed and dealt with on a daily basis. What methodologies are used in conflict resolution, and what perspectives does community mediation have in the management of social conflicts.
