This collection of articles is an outcome of the Socrates-Erasmus funded intensive programme (IP) entitled Inclusion and Exclusion, and Social Justice in Education which took place over ten days in August 2004 in Tolmin, Slovenia. The IP aimed to provide, for the twenty-five or so participants, a critical focus on the origins, development and usage of the concepts of social inclusion and exclusion particularly as applied to education; and the ways in which policy-makers, researchers, teachers and teacher educators have contributed and continue to contribute to developing strategies on social inclusion for schools and education generally.
