Children and adolescents are found to spend most of their time by using anyone of the social media devices and applications, this may be due to changes in family system, parenting pattern, working parents or easy access to social media usage and access to gadgets like mobile, laptop and internet technology may be some of the reasons for high usage of social media.We cannot totally blame the usage of media as the youngsters are equally using it constructively for their educational purpose. Technology that drives teaching method warrants students to use social media. The problem arises only when the usage goes to the level of getting addicted to it. Addiction to social media should be viewed as a serious social issue. So, suitable remedial measures have to be immediately implemented. Hence, the current study focus to find out the usage and level of addiction among the adolescent students in higher secondary schools in Coimbatore District. Suitable social work intervention is suggested in this study.
