While it is inadvertently being used by students and teachers for various activities, there is very little research providing specific evidence of social media as educational scaffold along with its affordances and limitations. Although students seem to be using it for almost all of their daily life situations, there is again a dearth of evidence to indicate whether the students use it or are willing to use social media for educational purposes. In the competitive times of the higher secondary education and further, it is accepted that learning cannot be confined to the classrooms alone. The importance of learning scaffold has been long recognized by Vygotsky in Social Constructivism. Internet has added a digital dimension to it which Connectivism explains and is being continually explored with developing technologies.
