The book presents the Social Pedagogy in Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi, his pedagogical theory and practice. In order to fulfil such an intent, the research presents a hermeneutic analysis of the concept of Social Pedagogy from the point of view of Pestalozzian pedagogy. The analysis traces the complexity of Social Pedagogy, looking at its historical, political, economic, educational and social context and the importance of Pestalozzi in the process of genesis of social education. In order to characterise such influence, we narrate the trajectory of education in the 18th century, we show the Pestalozzian conception of social education and we demarcate the birth of Social Pedagogy as theory and practice. We conclude that, based on the research carried out, social work/social education/Social Pedagogy are the fruit of Pestalozzian actions to unite education and work, with the aim of improving the living conditions of subjects in society.
