This study characterizes Social Technology as a tool for promoting social inclusion and promotes a reflection on the Social Technologies developed in Brazil, assessing how and to what extent the State, through Science, Technology and Innovation funding agencies, has supported/fostered actions and projects focused on this theme. The documentary research carried out on the basis of management reports and the websites of research funding agencies and organizations linked to the development of Social Technology in Brazil reveals the limited participation of funding agencies in the development of Social Technology and also characterizes the few initiatives found as isolated, palliative, discontinued actions concentrated in a few regions of the country. The research highlights the challenges and paradigms of Social Technology, adopted as a public policy, and emphasizes the need for greater state participation in fostering/encouraging the development of this technology, as a means of minimizing social vulnerability.
