The present work is an attempt to know about the glimpses of Karbi society and culture. The Karbis are the indigenous population of Karbi Anglong district of Assam, India. Their origin, migration and cultural tradition bears a special significance. In their livelihood, socio cultural norms values and customs are an inseparable part. This tradition is transmitted among them generation after generation. The present study is a brief discussion about their society and cultural tradition as well as its resemblance in their livelihood.

Somenath Bhattacharjee is working as an Assistant Professor in Anthropology, ASSAM UNIVERSITY, DIPHU CAMPUS, INDIA. He has published a number of Research papers in different journals/books of National and International repute. His research interest is mainly focused on Medical Anthropology, Human rights, Folk Culture-Ethnography and Women studies.
