Gender and Sport in India is a very vast topic. India as a country is huge in size.In addition to that,its culture and atmosphere varies from place to place.The present work is based on understanding of A Study on Socio-Cultural deterrent of Sports Participation by Female students in Solapur District Maharashtra(India). This study has provided a gross picture of female participation from global to local level. Especially in the patriarchal society women participation in sports has to face many barriers such as social economical and cultural as well as psychological. The study was conducted on district level, which has pinpointed that this complex issue has been treated and tackled in sociological perspective. The social conditions can be changed then only female student's participation will steadily improved in the present decade the conditions have been slowly improving in comparison to decade of 50s and 60s. Remedies suggested out of this research work and model developed can be used not only for selected district but other districts in Maharashtra. This study is imperial study based on field work and careful observations.
