The study showed that the significant or sustainable development impacts of migration and remittances primarily depends on conditions of migrant sending households and as well as the migration situation. Migration has been increasing its importance and relevance to the social, economic and environmental dimensions of sustainable development, as well as for its influence on the study area in Gohatsion town in particular. The study suggested that policy makers should design development policies that integrate migration policy more explicitly with in a broader context of economic and social development framework.

Hailemariam Zewdie holds B.A Degree in Geography from Debub University and M.A Degree in Population and Socioeconomic Development Planning From Adama Science and Technology University. He served as a freelance lecturer in Debremarkos University and other universities, too. He has published many research articles in reputable International Journals.
