Socioeconomic vulnerability and lack of informal social support among poor elderly widows are gradually increasing in Bangladesh. Previous research suggests that socio-economic deprivation in early life increases socioeconomic vulnerability, but informal social support decreases in later life for elderly women in Bangladesh. Using cross-sectional and retrospective data this research analyzes how socioeconomic vulnerability associated with socioeconomic deprivation in early life decreases informal social support due to changes in social networks in Bangladesh.
