Peru is a multicultural and multiethnic country. Our cultural potential is nourished by countless artistic manifestations, aesthetic expressions and a rich archaeological heritage; and also by the knowledge, wisdom, institutions, traditions, histories and memories of the different cultures, ethnic groups, peoples and citizens who share our life and development projects on a daily basis. This diversity provides us with moments of encounter that we must strengthen in order to make them more and more authentic intercultural dialogues. It is in this conjunction of visions and practices, of respectful relationships and mutual learning, that we can glimpse the enormous creative potential of our society. This is why we understand that cultural diversity is a capital that strengthens prosperity and broadens the meanings of democracy by linking them to the different ways in which people imagine their well-being. This is the context for the efforts of the Vice-Ministry of Interculturality, which is responsible for promoting interculturality, fostering and guaranteeing the rights and integral development of the country's culturally diverse groups.
