Child labour is one of the most worrying social issues surrounding Brazilian society. It is an indication that the State fails in terms of family maintenance, since it admits the possibility of children leaving school to work before their time. In an attempt to reduce child labor, the federal government has instituted the Program for the Eradication of Child Labor, whose objective is to eradicate all forms of work by children and adolescents under 16 years of age and to ensure that they attend school and engage in socio-educational activities. This program has an intersectoral character, since it brings together in its management the three administrative spheres of the Brazilian state (Union, States and Municipalities) as well as civil society. It is also part of the National Policy of Social Assistance, which favors the integration in the social protection network and the greater effectiveness of its institutional principles.
