Prof. Dr. Ekaterina Filcheva licenciada pela Faculdade de Química da Universidade de Sófia "St. Kl. Ohridski", Bulgária. Trabalhou mais de 42 anos no Instituto de Ciência do Solo "N. Poushkarov" no domínio da matéria orgânica do solo e da formação de complexos com metais pesados. É presidente da Sociedade Búlgara de Substâncias Húmicas (BHSS).
