In the style of his first book of poems, Left Wanting More (2015), LaFountain's new works are rich with sensual, visual imagery, as one might expect of a poet who is also a painter. Written in minimalist free verse, a number of them are highly experimental and improvisational. There are humorous, poignant and melancholic reflections on language and writing, holidays, aging, near death and death, as well as absurdity, tragedy, and wonder.
