Jan Parkinson started writing at age sixteen when he became a sportswriter for The Sun, a local newspaper in suburban Kansas City. After earning a degree in Journalism from the University of Kansas, he became an advertising copywriter for Hallmark Cards. Later, he was responsible for the development and production of three original feature-length movies a year for the Hallmark Hall of Fame and broadcast on CBS. The series received eighty-one Emmy Awards plus Golden Globe, Peabody, and Christopher Awards. In addition, he wrote, produced, and directed more than sixty-five behind-the-scenes videos released on DVD.
