Thermal analysis is a useful technique for the study of solid phase transformations and has been widely applied to study precipitation in aluminium alloys, but the results are generally interpreted qualitatively. Quantitative interpretation of Differential Scanning Calorimetry(DSC) experiments on ternary aluminium-based alloys has been attempted, and can improve understanding of their thermodynamics and kinetics of precipitation. Three separate, distinctly kinetic models were used in the studying of the precipitation reactions. The analysis should help shed some light on solid state reactions in aluminium alloy, and should be especially useful to professionals in Engineering and Science fields, or anyone else who may be considering usage of aluminium alloys
