This book includes optimal route selection for solid waste collection process. This study was done for Galle Municipal council area considering population and traffic data in order to get optimal routes to collect solid waste in Galle Municipal council. In this book, a methodology based on GIS technology for optimizing waste collection and transport systems had been developed. Through the introduction of new vehicle routing and new vehicle time, Network Analysis, the extension of GIS technology in the area of Galle Municipal Council will be used to promote the productivity of waste collection process and transport. The outcomes showed that the proposed scenario improves effectiveness significantly in terms of collection time, CO2 emissions, travel distance, and fuel consumption. Current solid waste collection route of Galle Municipal council has been improved with decreasing travelling distance, travelling time, fuel consumption and proposed eleven new solid waste collection routes.
