This study was carried out to assess solid waste management practices across Hospitals in Makurdi urban areas, Benue State, Nigeria with the objectives to assess the nature (type, quantity and toxicity) of waste being generated in hospitals in the area. Identify and examine the waste management practices adopted by the hospitals in the area. As well as examine the environmental implications of waste management practices adopted by the hospitals. The study hypothesis test significant difference between waste management practices in the categories of hospitals in Makurdi urban area. A survey research design was adopted to cover hospitals from various categories; teaching, government and private hospitals using samples that are representatives of the various categories. Study population includes hospital workers, waste collectors, patients, and their care-givers that generate waste.
