This book contains the texts of invited talks delivered at a two-day discussion meeting on the important topic of Solvent Dynamics and Charge-Transfer Reactions. This meeting was one of the first activities sponsored by the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research. The centre supports research in frontier and interdisciplinary aspects of science and engineering in a variety of ways. Its programme includes seminars, schools, symposia and workshops in the physical and chemical sciences, life sciences and various areas of engineering. These meetings will result in volumes, such as the present one, dealing with up-to-date developments in the concerned areas and help in the rapid dissemination of scientific knowledge worldwide.
