Abdulkarim Jafar Karim est né le 1er septembre 1959 à Bagdad, Irak. Il est diplômé de l'École de médecine vétérinaire de Bagdad en 1982, se classant 9e sur 262 étudiants. Il a obtenu sa maîtrise au département de médecine vétérinaire de Bagdad en 1988 et a poursuivi son doctorat en 2010 à l'UPM, en Malaisie.
