Water is one of the main commodities for the survival of living organisms on the surface of the Earth. Most of the people depend on groundwater resources for drinking and agriculture. The presence of chemical elements in the study area groundwater represents dissolution of geological material (various rocks) which the water flows in aquifer. Mining affects water resources, both surface and groundwater, at various stages of the life cycle of the mine and even after its closure. The mining process itself, mineral processing operations, mine dewatering, seepage of contaminated leachates, flooding of mine workings, and discharge of untreated water are some important processes with related mine water problems. We have paid attention on the geological aspects of the Bandalamottu lead mining area to a certain extent than its environmental and groundwater contamination.
