P. J. Finglass is a Lecturer in Classical Studies at the University of Nottingham and Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford. His doctoral thesis, on which this book is based, was awarded the Conington Prize for the best thesis in Classical Languages and Literature submitted to the University of Oxford.
