Soils are an important sink for heavy metals due to soils' high metal retention capacities. Therefore, knowledge of the adsorption properties of soil as well as the behaviour of heavy metals in soils is crucial in understanding and solving pollution problems. This book sorption of lead onto variable charge soils is divided into five chapters. The first chapter reviewed studies in adsorption .The second chapter is on the physicochemical properties and mineralogical properties of soils. The third chapter is on ways of determining the various operating variables in adsorption, the basic properties of soil and scanned electron microscopy of lead adsorbed soils. It show the statistical analysis used in analyzing data. The fourth chapter is on effect of operating variables on adsorption. Finally, the fifth chapter showed the scanning electron microscopy analysis of soils. This is followed by the references.
