Humankind is in the throes of an ongoing power initiation and global rite of passage: the whole earth community, if not the whole of creation, has been "groaning together" in the crucible of change and transformation. The collective need for spiritual regeneration and the birthing of a new earth consciousness is greater than ever and this book-Sounding Eternity-directly address that need. Blending rich, evocative imagery with the radiance of mystical vision, Sounding Eternity is an inspirational allegory of our times. Presented in poetic form as 'The Black River Trilogy,' the words in this short book were produced as primal utterances-rhythmic incantations-during a shamanic state of consciousness. With this enhanced awareness, the power of sound enabled the author to "communicate without fear through the keyhole of eternity" and articulate coherent visions from the extraordinary perspective of the shamanic universe. The utterances and sounds which gave rise to this book come from a level of awareness and intelligence beyond the physical yet possessing a sensitivity and deep concern for human vulnerability when faced with the choices and challenges of incarnate freewill. The poems are invocations and, at times, cryptic exhortations: they ask us to consider how the Western world has strayed into the dead-end of secular materialism. Yet the poems also present a mystical vision of redemption. In the stillness of a mind out of time the wisdom of the shamanic universes tapped, like the source of a spring high up on a mountain, offering a balm for the soul. The book also contains five illustrations by Barry Cottrell, four made using the printmaking technique of burin engraving on copper, and one linocut.
