Mike Downs started his career racing for Group 44, the factory Triumph sports car team on the East Coast. After winning a national championship, he moved to California to race the new Titan Formula Ford for the West Coast distributor. Mike raced for forty years, competing in TransAm, IMSA, Formula Atlantic, and FIA endurance races. and drove factory cars for Triumph, Porsche, Datsun, and Titan. He wone his last championship with a sports car he designed and built at his company, Downs Engineering. He enjoys writing in his office looking over the vineyards in Northern California where he lives with his lovely wife, Kathy.
