Based on an analytical reading of Moroccan diaspora fiction, this book seeks to explore the role of diaspora in shaping alternative versions of space, history, identity and memory. It seeks to respond to the contemporary debate on diaspora literature in an increasingly mobile world attempting to provide a reading in literary texts of contemporary Moroccan writers in the diaspora. Thus, this book concentrates on Moroccan diaspora fiction in Europe namely Brick Oussaid s Mountains Forgotten by God, Betty Batoul s Un coquelicot en hiver? Pourquoi pas , Hafid Bouazza s Abdullah s Feet, Abdelkader Benali s Wedding by the Sea. As to fiction of Moroccan diaspora in North America, my study focuses on Anouar Majid s Si Yussef, Laila Lalami s Hope and other Dangerous Pursuits, The Turning Tide , and Secret Son, Majid Blal s Une femme pour pays, and Rachida M Faddel s Canada, aller simple. The book explores these writers works with regard to contemporary discourses on diasporic identity, representation, migration, exile and the recent socio-political debate on movements across boundaries.
