This book presents the general motivation of language learners, and the activities and techniques teachers use to motivate students with different levels of proficiency to speak. The perceptions of English language teachers of foreign learners in PEAP course at Nottingham Trent University formed the basis of the research. I noticed that my speaking proficiency has improved since I arrived in the UK. Based on my research, the most used activities with all levels in speaking classes are presentation and discussion. These worked very well with students with a high level of English proficiency. Pair and group work are techniques applied for the three levels, and they seem to positively affect them. Thus, teachers should be aware of their students' motivation toward learning English and exploit this in their teaching materials. It is better to include the English culture in some lessons, ensure that students feel safe in the classroom to contribute easily, and be fluent.
