This book narrates a research study about speech act recognition. This study aimed to investigate if the Iranian EFL learners are able to recognize different speech acts. Moreover, it was an attempt to discover if the EFL learners' proficiency level plays a role in the recognition of speech acts. The results revealed that the Expressive speech act was recognized more frequently. The findings indicated that the advanced level outperformed the pre-intermediate level in distinguishing the correct speech acts.
