The central defender moved in 1991 to FK Radni ki Ni , where he made his professional debut during the 1991/92 season. Gruji eventually played 4 seasons for FK Radni ki Ni before leaving in 1995 to Belgium. In Belgium Gruji played for two seasons for R.W.D. Molenbeek, moving in the summer of 1997 to RSC Anderlecht. In contrast to R.W.D. Molenbeek, he did not receive a consistent place in the squad and Gruji decided to look for it somewhere else. In 1998 Dutch football club FC Twente bought him for 350,000 Euro. Gruji spent 5.5 year in Enschede and won one prize: KNVB Cup in the 2000/01 season. In 2004 Gruji moved as a transfer-free player to ADO Den Haag. After moving to FK Rad in 2006 and playing another season there, he retired.
