Spirit of the Moment Live at the Village Vanguard is a 1995 live album by jazz saxophonist Joshua Redman. Joshua Redman (born February 1, 1969) is an American jazz saxophonist and composer who records for Nonesuch Records. He won the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition in 1991. Redman, who is both African American and Jewish American, was born in Berkeley, California, to jazz saxophonist Dewey Redman and dancer Renee Shedroff. He was exposed to many kinds of music at the Center for World Music in Berkeley, where his mother studied South Indian dance.
