The book on "Spiritual Formation for Pastors" points out ways and means of how pastors can maintain spiritual vitality in their lives and in their ministry to members. It is spiritual vitality that energizes all the activities pastors are involved whether in the family or members of their churches they are ministering to. Pastors are tempted just like any other Christians and cannot overcome temptations without spirituality. Pastors cannot maintain spiritual vitality naturally. They need quality time with God in prayers and meditation and study of God's Word. This is not an easy task, it requires discipline and commitments to God and the work he has assigned them of evangelizing the masses of people lost and also nurturing them when they become members. It is easier to win the lost to Jesus, but it is more demanding to nurture them so that they become responsible and fruit bearing members. A pastor, who is stunted spiritually cannot manage this work of enabling the lost to know Jesus as their personal Savior and to continue maintaining a relationship with him. The Pastor first and foremost must have a deep relationship with Jesus through spiritual formation practices.
