Bruce H. Charnley was born in Prestatyn, Wales and raised in Liverpool, East Africa, and London, England, moving to Toronto, Canada at age eight, and eventually settling in Ottawa, Canada at age 18. He spent a year studying theology at Queen's University and later studied comparative religion at the Master's level at Carleton University. Bruce worked 24 years in communications for the Canadian Federal Public Service. Along the way, he practiced and studied: Transcendental Meditation, a meditation taught by Prem Rawat, Fang Shen Do Kung-Fu, Erhard Seminars Training, The Silva Method, the Landmark Forum and Advanced Course, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, and completed three 10-Day Vipassana meditation courses as taught by S.N. Goenka. Bruce has three daughters and lives with his wife in Ottawa, Canada.
